DID YOU KNOW….? Our police officers do more than just protect us every day. They are actively involved in community support through many activities in our neighborhoods. One program is the Cobb Police Athletic League (PAL), which is a charitable non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of young people ages 4-15. Cobb PAL focuses on juvenile crime prevention through athletic and recreational activities for Cobb County’s high-risk neighborhoods. This includes football, basketball, soccer and baseball programs. And, as you know, the Cobb County Police do other things to help neighborhoods like the Tall Pines Apartment project we recently joined in on to give tenants ownership and pride in their communities. We provided the volunteers and the Cobb County Police Department and Keep Cobb Beautiful provided the equipment and support to make it successful. (We are planning another such project in October so look for information on that in the bulletin and on our website.)
Updates on Our Officers. Congratulations are in order for these officers: Captain Brian Kitchens has recently been promoted from Lieutenant to Captain and has been transferred to Precinct 2 in Austell.
Captain Everett Cebula has been named commander of the Cobb County Internal Affairs Department.
Officer Clay Strayhorn has been promoted to sergeant.
Officer B. P. Tidwell is now on the DUI Taskforce.
Sergeant Kevin Geisler has jointed the Marietta/Cobb/Smyrna Joint Task Force. If these are your adopted cops please send them a note or card of congratulations! Officers Treglown and Benson have resigned to pursue other careers. We thank them for their past service. Those of you who adopted one of these two officers will be assigned replacements once we have gotten them from our contact, Community Engagement Officer Nathalie Jegg. National Night Out : Mark your calendars for National Night Out on August 7th, 2018. The event will take place at Jim R. Miller Park (2245 Callaway Road, Marietta, GA 30008). It will be the largest event of the year by the Cobb Police and Cobb Fire Departments. Event details to be announced soon!
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.
Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all fifty states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August (Texas celebrates on the first Tuesday in October). Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and much, much more. Cobb County Police Department Seeking School Supply Donations to Help Kids in Need.
Cobb residents showed overwhelming support this past winter during the Cobb Police Department's "Giving the Gift of Warmth" coat drive. The Community Affairs Unit is calling everyone to rally for another great cause -- Book Bag-Palooza, which is an effort to gather as many book bags and school supplies as possible. Donations will be distributed to county students in need at the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year, which is only two months away. Donations can include new book bags, paper, folders, pencils, crayons, glue sticks and markers. Any items that a student, from elementary to high school, would need to start the school year out prepared and ready to learn. Donations can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday-Friday (excluding holidays) at any of the Cobb precincts:

Please keep praying for your adopted police officers. If you can, send them a card or letter of appreciation. You can simply thank them for their service or you can offer to take them to lunch or invite them to your child’s next baseball game or swim meet or to your subdivision picnic. They may surprise you and take you up on the offer!
